Sunnie looked up to see his stalker round the corner and advance toward him, and he froze at the sight before him. The… thing was definitely not human, his claws were outstretched toward Sunnie in a way that the young mutant knew would be his end. His heart began to pound in his head as he panicked, and he backed as far against the wall as he could manage. “P-please, no-” was all Sunnie could manage as he frantically searched his bag. His fingers curled around his phone just as he opened his mouth to scream once the ‘thing’ drew closer, but he stopped as someone else appeared in the entrance of he alley.

He glanced at the sword and then at the man, and he briefly wondered if he was here to help this thing finish Sunnie off. Clearly he wasn’t by what he was saying, but unfortunately Sunnie’s mind was flying a mile a minute, trying to find possible escape routes or ways to defend himself should either of the new acquaintances tried to attack him. He didn’t want to go down like this, in an alley, alone.  Spirit? A rape- wait- what the hell was going on?

“Then please forgive. One would rather attempt to talk you down, but this one is tired, and this one must stop you from upsetting the balance here any further.” Youji’s sword seemed to gleam as he brought it up in a defense position. “Come, I am your target.” He moved, flashing forward in several quick steps and slashing out at the spirit’s torso, using the flat of the blade to push it back and away. A turn and he was standing between the spirit and the would be victim. “When this one tells you, run, and follow closely. Please trust me, and we might get out alive.”

“O-okay.” Sunnie didn’t question the stranger and he pushed himself off the wall, ready to run when the man ordered him to. He knew he had no time to debate with this strange rescuer wielding a sword, and if he turned out to be a threat like this thing before them then at least he’d be out of the dark and into the light where he could better used his powers. He pressed a button on his phone and began to draw light from the screen as it lit up, just in case. His body was tense with fear and anticipation, and he waited for the other man’s cue to start running.

“RUN!”

Youji leaped forward, sword blazing in the darkness and pushing the spirit against the wall. “Go, to the end of the alley! Keep the light close to you!” He had noticed the small light show. and knew that this spirit abhorred light. Good. that would keep them safe. at least for a little. He parried another strike and made one of his own, feet skidding against the ground.
